About Wayo Banagi Camp

A small and simple tented camp in the thick of the Great Migration
As with the other Wayo camps in the Serengeti, Banagi Green Camp might be low key in its construction, but it's very high on personalised service and all-round excellent safari experiences. Boasting a beautiful central location in the Serengeti National Park, along the banks of the Grumeti River, the camp is surrounded by acacia thorn trees and vast plains. It's across these plains that the wildebeest of the Great Migration roam from March to July, and again in November and December. But actually, it doesn't matter what time of year you visit - the central Serengeti has some of the very best game viewing in the park....

Property details

The property

The main area of camp is simple but functional, and there are plenty of comfy sofas and chairs under the tarpaulin shade, positioned perfectly for wildlife-watching across the landscape. Food is simple and hearty, home-cooked by the smiling chefs and served in your private dining area. Congregate at the campfire area in the morning for a pre-dawn cup of tea before the game drive, and again in the evening for drinks and safari tales.

The rooms

Banagi has just five simple bell tents, all with traditional camping beds (very comfortable ones too!) with crisp, white linens. Makuti-woven mats and handmade side tables are simple but stylish and very functional. Attached to each sleeping tent is a small, private bathroom with a hot water shower, basin and toilet. Again, modest, but perfectly comfortable and you won't have any complaints.

Activities

Game drives are the name of the game at Banagi Green Camp. You'll head out with one of the expert guides, once in the early morning and again later in the afternoon, on the lookout for the thousands and thousands of wildebeest of the Great Migration- and they shouldn't be hard to find! Also keep your eyes peeled for the predators that are never far away; with any luck you should be able to see leopard, lion and hyena, as well as all the members of the Big Five.
