

The sheltered courtyard at the heart of the villa has a beautiful swimming pool surrounded by tropical shrubs and tall coconut palms. Ornate archways lead inside, with stairs leading up to the breakfast roof, sundowner baraza and dining terrace, which has fabulous views of the Indian Ocean and dhows passing by. There a several quiet areas with swing beds and comfortable couches, and a secluded massage lounge. In the garden, there’s a children’s playground and a small hut for sleep-outs.
The villa has four double bedrooms and one twin bedroom, all of which are en-suite, and each one with a private outdoor terrace. Interiors are cool and spacious, with crisp white linen on the beds, beautiful ethnic fabrics on the heavy, hand-carved furniture, and a writing desk. All have mosquito nets, and ceiling fans to beat the tropical heat. The palatial master suite is particularly stunning, with an enormous carved mirror catching the ocean’s reflection.
An outstanding feature of Wazi Dubu House is that it comes with a private motor boat – the captain is on hand for a variety of watersports like water skiing, wakeboarding, fishing trips along the mangrove channels, and tours of Lamu Town. Deep-sea fishing trips can be arranged, and the snorkelling is superb in the sheltered waters of the bay. One of the more unusual activities is the chance to learn how to sail a traditional fishing dhow.
