About Acacia House

A cosy home from home in the spectacular Mara North Conservancy.

Tucked into a quiet corner of the Mara North Conservancy, Acacia House is your very own country house in the bush. A charming three-bedroom house, it’s perfectly positioned looking out over a busy waterhole and those iconic Mara plains, with nothing but birdsong, warthog grunts and the occasional lion roar to disturb the peace. With a dedicated team, your own guide and vehicle, and a wonderfully relaxed, do-as-you-please rhythm, it’s made for families and friends who like their freedom – and a good dollop of wildlife, too.

Property details

The property

With its green corrugated iron roof, white-washed walls and manicured garden, Acacia is classically colonial on the outside but step inside and you’ll find a beautifully finished, open-plan cottage with exposed beams and wooden floors. The warm, friendly team really do make you feel as if you’re returning home and the food whipped up by the kitchen is wonderfully fresh and always delicious. An alfresco lunch on the veranda as warthogs snuffle at the nearby waterhole is a must.

The rooms

The two master bedrooms are simple, delightful and perfectly cosy. Both have vast double beds adorned in pretty fabrics whilst antique rugs add a touch of charm. The bathrooms are a real treat with huge sunken bathtubs, a shower and twin sinks and striking twisted tree sculptures. A scramble to the top of the house reveals a third room, ideal for kids, with a single and double bed, which shares the bathroom of the second bedroom.

Activities

With your own guide and vehicle, activities are 100% up to you at Acacia. Pack a picnic and head out on a game drive at dawn, or linger over breakfast and leave a little later in the day. Visits can be arranged to the nearby schoolroom and village for an insight into the wonderful Masai culture of this part of East Africa. There’s also an excellent children’s programme to keep the kids entertained.
