The main lodge comprises several well-considered areas inspired by the curve of the river and traditional Maasai manyattas: a spacious open-plan lounge adorned with Kitenge fabrics and bespoke furnishings; an artfully-designed circular bar and lovely infinity pool overlooking the river. Expansive breakfasts are a true guest favourite, most lunches are served on the shaded wooden deck and why not join the chefs in the interactive kitchen? The camp also has one of the nicest boma areas around, serving artisanal pizzas, whole-baked fish (and more) around a central fireplace, at private tables with soft sand underfoot.
Appearing to float atop of the landscape, the 10 spacious suites (including a 2-bedroom family villa) are uber-stylish yet harness the feel of a safari camp with canvas walls and banana fibre ceilings. They are spread out along the river's edge, each with commanding views of the hippo-laden lagoon, from a private plunge pool no less. Sliding doors open on to private viewing decks where you can soak up the action, a view that's enjoyed from your bathtub too.
There's fantastic game viewing year-round and your guide will always set out to see something special, but nothing beats the huge herds of plains game migrating through the Grumeti during May, June and July. There's always a good chance of seeing sizeable prides of lion and impressive packs of hyena, as well as other predators like cheetah, leopard and even serval. Look out for black and white colobus monkeys - they're found nowhere else in the Serengeti. You'll also have the chance to explore the area on foot or from the basket of a hot air balloon.
