The main area of the lodge is spacious, open and airy. Comfortable sand coloured couches create intimate areas where you always feel you have a quiet place for yourself. You don’t need to go on the safari to spot some desert animals. The water hole is visible from the lounge and terrace restaurant and oryx, zebras and springbok can be spotted from here. To cool off there is an oval swimming pool with sunloungers facing the barren vista. You can dine alfresco under the stars on the tiled terrace at the edge of the desert or better yet, marvel at the milky way from the telescope at the lodge observatory, guided by the in-house astronomer.
The ten air-conditioned desert villas blend in seamlessly with the environment. The colour palette reflects the beiges, grey and stone to be found outside. Each room has a king size bed with crisp white linen and a dramatic skylight for night-time stargazing. Also to be enjoyed are a wood burning fireplace, writers desk, marble ensuite bathroom with additional outdoor shower, a spacious lounge with comfy couches and a private terrace overlooking the moonscape.
Get your desert boots on for some incredible adventures in this desolate landscape. First off is a nature drive in an open 4x4 vehicle where you can encounter the desert-adapted antelope, the gemsbok (Oryx) and take a hike to view sacred bushmen paintings. Jump on a quad bike and let the wind blow your hair back as you explore your environment and enjoy a luxury desert picnic, or head to Sossusvlei and Sesriem Canyon in an air conditioned vehicle, a welcomed reprieve from the heat. If stars are your thing you’ve come to the right place. Extra special trips such as ballooning and scenic flights can be arranged.
