Whatever the weather and whatever time of year you visit, Bushmans will have a space to suit. In winter, lunch and dinner are served in the Homestead accompanied by roaring fires and plenty of red wine. There’s also a small swimming pool, gym, cosy bar and a library and museum up here, as well as a scattering of outdoor tables under the vines. Next to the lake is the Makana, the summer dining area, with glorious high ceilings and views of the water and mountains ahead. There’s also a beautiful spa and plenty of nooks and crannies amid the expertly-manicured gardens to hide away in with a good book.
The rooms and suites have all been built with the utmost luxury in mind. In whitewashed buildings dotted around the property, all have a traditional feel that’s balanced with pristine white linens and contemporary touches. Choose from Luxury Rooms with patios and garden views or Deluxe Rooms with wood-panelled indoor sitting rooms and beautiful private pools. There are also several suites, some well-suited for families, others for couples looking for a spot of romance and intimacy.
Activities at Bushmans are as leisurely or active as you like. Nature drives will reveal wildlife species like springbok, eland and cape mountain zebra and the guided rock art excursions to the well-preserved art sites are fascinating and a highlight of any stay. There are also botanical walks, fishing trips and plenty of hiking and walking trails, as well as canoe excursions down the Brandewyn River. Or, if all that sounds too much, how about a massage in the award-winning spa, complete with views of the burbling river…
