Property details

The property

The guest lounge faces out across the ocean, with glorious views from the sunny breakfast conservatory and seafront deck. A well-stocked bar and tea and coffee-making facilities make sure all needs are catered for. During chilly weather, settle into one of the comfortable couches around the open fireplace. Summer days out on the sandstone patio are well spent around the swimming pool with a cold drink in hand. Keep a lookout for the whales passing by between June and December.

The rooms

Five individually decorated double or twin rooms feature cool marine-inspired décor and marvellous views of the ocean literally a few metres beyond your patio. Some have a small deck, and each is en-suite, with the West Room being situated downstairs near the pool. The Ocean Suite is a luxurious penthouse with plenty of space, a separate lounge with fantastic views, and a vast private balcony. It's the ultimate whale-watching lookout, perfect for honeymooners or simply a romantic treat.

Activities

Cliff Lodge is an easy 30km drive from the lively seaside town of Hermanus, and within walking distance to some of the most spectacular stretches of Walker Bay's coastline. Aside from whale watching, this spot is renowned for its excellent marine safaris, and is one of the best places for Great White Shark cage diving. Hiking, birdwatching and horse riding offer the chance to explore the pristine fynbos and natural reserves, with vineyards nearby for a wine-tasting session or two.

Something to think about

There are minimal restaurant options nearby and you'll probably have to drive or take a taxi for dinner - but the views make it worth the extra effort.
