Splashes of nature infiltrate the interiors from forest-green couches in front of the fire to the ostrich eggs that dangle like earrings above the bar. The design is a picture of the Trzebinski family's history and adventures, each room warm and inviting with honeyed woods, local patterns and bold decor - as well as the 200 works of art. The restaurant and bar is on The Deck and offers a set-menu prepared with organic ingredients, many picked from their own garden (lunch and dinner must be booked in advance).
The Eden offers a total of nine rooms, spread between the main house (named after her children: Lana, Tacha and Sta) and Tonio's studio. The rooms are richly decorated with colourful paintings, and wood or Lamu-style beds, and bright with large windows that let in plenty of light. The main house has the grandest suite, which also has a private veranda. There is a trio of stand-alone studio lofts too, while two more rooms overlook the gardens or forest and enjoy a shared lounge, bar and dining area.
The hotel sits within the Langata neighbourhood, meaning the elephant orphanage, giraffe sanctuary and fascinating Karen Blixen Museum are all within easy reach. Experience more of Nairobi on a stroll through the buzzing Maasai Market or a tour of local artists' studios, the explore the natural surroundings on guided forest walks, hikes into the Ngong Hills for amazing views over the Rift Valley, or visits to the caves where Mau Mau freedom fighters took refuge. If you fancy a little pampering, the Eden offers simple spa treatments.
A buzzing metropolis of quirky eccentricities and a growing fashion, arts and cultural scene.
