About Entim Camp

An old-school canvas camp, perfectly placed for the migration and year-round wildlife.
Entim Camp is an elegant tented camp, tucked into dense woodland on a bend of the Mara River. Aptly named – Entim means “forest” in the Maasai language – this wonderful camp beneath the trees is perfectly placed for witnessing the Great Migration of thousands and thousands of wildebeest, which passes through the area for several months each year. It lies close to several major crossing points in the Mara River, offering spectacular photographic opportunities of the beasts flocking across the water. This part of Kenya is synonymous with some of Africa’s finest wildlife viewing, and the best thing about Entim is its superb location, literally in the heart of the action.

Property details

The property

The camp’s design blends in beautifully with the surrounding bush, and features comfortable and locally-made timber furniture, and rich fabrics in earthy tones. High ceiling canopies keep things bright and breezy, but the lounge and library area is cosy and inviting. In the dining room and bar, roll up the canvas panels for the most spectacular views across the riverbank as you dine.

The rooms

Ten double or twin en-suite safari tents are spaced a good distance apart along the Mara River, each with a private deck in front to make the most of the views. Bathrooms are simple, with a toilet, basin, and shower with hot and cold running water. Interiors are luxurious without being too elaborate, with beautiful wood furniture, vibrant rugs underfoot, soft lighting, and a feel of being close to nature that only sleeping under canvas can give.

Activities

Entim’s superb position in the heart of the Masai Mara Reserve means you’ll be first in line for the best early morning light and superb photographic opportunities on your game drives. It's also possible to stay out after the park gates officially close, so pack a picnic and go for an all day adventure, returning after sunset. Expect to see all the Big Five species, as well as staggering numbers of plains game and, of course, the wildebeest of the Great Migration, river crossings and all (July to October).

Something to think about

Something to think about

A desirable location often comes with a compromise and here, it's the busyness of the area and high number of vehicles in high season.
