Large and immaculately well kept, the gardens epitomise gentle island charm, with makuti-thatched cabins poking out between the fragrant hedges and palm trees, and wooden walkways winding between them. Clamber down a path over the rocks to reach the sandy beach areas at low tide or dip in the main pool (there are three in all) surrounded by sun loungers and umbrellas. Other highlights include three restaurants (don't miss the fresh fruit juices, we loved the pineapple) and a spa.
Thirty deluxe rooms and nine bungalows offer accommodation in varying degrees of luxury. The rooms have been crafted by local artisans in traditional style, but the interiors have every modern comfort you could desire. Throughout, the decor is light and airy, with white-washed walls, local wooden artifacts and seating, and large raised beds draped in mosquito nets. The secluded honeymoon and luxury villas up the ante with exceptional sea views, private pools and spa pavilion.
With the ocean right on your doorstep, you're almost obliged to spend your days in the turquoise waters. Diving the reef to admire the corals and neon fish, kite surfing and big-game fishing are very popular, and on site you have access to kayaks and snorkelling equipment, although it is advisable to bring your own for comfort purposes. There is a small gym and bicycles if you want to brave the bumpy roads.
