Property details

The property

The camp is spread out in a tranquil clearing beneath groves of mature acacia trees, with an open-sided canvas dining and bar tent in the centre. Comfy outdoor chairs are dotted around the area and perfect for sinking into with a pair of binos or cup of tea for a lazy afternoon enjoying the peace and quiet. Food is simple, campfire-fare, but very tasty and wholesome (and just what you need after a long day in the bush).

The rooms

The modern backpacker-style dome tents are all spaced just far enough apart for maximum privacy and all have insect-proof screens, zip-down windows and doorway, and comfortable twin mattresses on the covered floor. Behind each is is a private loo cubicle with a flush toilet and bucket shower (hot showers available on request). Linen and towels are provided for a small cost or you may bring your own.

Activities

The Selenkay Conservancy occupies an exclusive part of the Amboseli eco-system alongside the Amboseli National Park. The region is famous for its vast herds of elephants, and offers superb photographic opportunities of the snow-capped Mount Kilimanjaro in the distance. Guided early morning, afternoon and night drives are led by highly experienced Maasai guides and trackers. Bush walks are also available, as are visits to a nearby Maasai village for a small taster of the local culture.
