You won't find much in the way of a solid structure at Goliath, as the camp is erected seasonally and totally disappears during the summer months. But when it's active it sits in the heart of Mana Pools on the edge of the Zambezi. The two collapsable canvas tents that comprise the main area are stocked with comfortable wood and cushioned furnishings. The lounge area has plenty of seating for this twelve-person camp and things are kept pretty simple with wood poles, sandy floors and the cooler box behind the bar where the drinks are kept. The semi-open dining area could be more tastefully put together though it has a lovely long communal table and wide views of the river.
There's nothing fancy about the six Meru-style canvas tents, though they are perfectly functional with ensuite bathrooms, hot showers and flush toilets. You'll sleep easy on a decently comfortable twin or double bed, with a smooth ground sheet and rug beneath your feet. Roll up flaps and LED bulbs provide a degree of lighting and bamboo shades give you a bit extra privacy outside these relatively closely-spaced tents.
Thanks to the standard of guiding on offer, every activity is enhanced - a typical game drive becomes an intense exploration; a walk, a deep inquiry into otherwise unseen aspects of the environment. Come for the rush of a close encounter or the Zen-like quietude of a slow drift on a canoe. See first-hand what genuine passion for the bush and sharing its subtitles looks like. The only thing you might want for is a night drive (they're not allowed in the national park), though you might get lucky and spot a few nocturnal critters from camp.
