Property details

The property

From the exterior, the Windhoek Hilton strikes an ultra-modern figure, with a metallic-glass turret and a staggered profile. Walk inside to the classic trappings of a refined hotel: marble floors, a raindrop chandelier, a grand staircase. Throughout, you'll find a number of restaurants and bars. The Skybar serves up cold local and international brews and fancy cocktails, with a view. D'vine offers fine dining and wine and cheese pairings in an elegant atmosphere. The spa offers a number of massage and beauty treatments, while the gift shop stocks a number of local souvenirs.

The rooms

Rooms here range in luxury from the modern and comfortable Guest Room to the extremely lavish executive rooms and suites. All are outfitted with King-size beds, high-speed internet, an LCD TV and a spacious bathroom with separate rain shower. Executive rooms have spectacular city views, access to the executive lounge throughout the day. The Garden Executive suite opens onto a terraced garden. Suites offer more than double the amount of space with an additional lounge and dining room; the Diplomatic Suite enjoys 180-degree views of the city.

Activities

Namibia is a land of drama and contrasts - from its rugged coastline, its desolate moon-like pans teeming with game and striking red-orange sand dunes. It's an overlander's paradise, with miles and miles of open road. However, chartering internal flights are not a bad option for exploring, either – not only do they close the distances significantly, they provide a spectacular aerial perspective. While not the most cosmopolitan of cities, Windhoek offers plenty of creature comforts to weary travellers, and a few activities to help kill time. Tour the beautiful Christus Kirche nearby, sample exotic game meat from Joe's Beer House, or try your hand at a game of golf, squash or tennis on local courts.
