A rustic and intimate Madagascan beach hotel on a stunning tropical island
Hotel Floralies is situated on a dazzling crescent of beach on the exquisite, tiny island of Nosy Kombe (close to Nosy Be), off the north coast of Madagascar. This small, resort-style hotel offers comfortable accommodation in a setting that’s nothing short of spectacular. Eight traditional Malagasy driftwood and thatch bungalows, plus a larger family bungalow, are nestled in lush tropical gardens along the edge of the sand, under a fringe of palm trees. Property details

The property

Sandy pathways from the bungalows wind through the tropical gardens to the main hotel area, with secluded spots to relax and soak up the magical island vibes along the way. The laid-back bar and restaurant overlooks a picture-perfect beach, with open sides under a thatched roof. Fresh, locally caught seafood, tropical fruit and exotic island spices feature on the menu, and special mention must be made of the delicious cocktails. WiFi is available in the bar area.

The rooms

Accommodation consists of eight rustic, yet comfortable, beach bungalows overlooking the ocean. They have a back-to-basics feel, with driftwood walls under shaggy thatched roofs. Each has comfortable twin or double beds with mosquito nets, and an en-suite bathroom with a shower. There is also a delightful family bungalow with two rooms, a small lounge, and an en-suite bathroom. The décor is simple and inspired by the natural setting, with vivid tropical colours adding an exotic feel to the interiors.

Activities

The azure waters of the Indian Ocean offer a number of exciting activities; this sheltered cove in particular is fringed by a spectacular coral reef, and the snorkelling is breathtaking. Scuba diving is equally superb, and between September and November, whale watching cruises offer an exciting marine safari experience. Other activities include fishing and kayaking in the bay, day trips to the surrounding islands, and guided lemur-viewing tours of the nearby national parks.
