About Inkaterra La Casona

Charming cobblestone streets and Andean sceneries surround this elegant colonial manor
Inkaterra’s La Casona is Cusco’s first boutique hotel and the only Relais & Chateaux in the city. Located in the traditional Plaza de las Nazarenas, it enjoys the best of both worlds: quiet, peaceful surroundings, yet only a block away from the vibrant cobblestone streets of San Blas that heads directly to the Main Square. Originally serving as training grounds for an elite group of Incas, the 16th-century manor house has a rich heritage, receiving several illustrious guests over the years, like the libertador Simón Bolívar. Elegantly restored and with discreet service this truly is a peaceful palatial retreat.

Property details

The property

The hotel has been thoughtfully restored to emphasise the original architecture. Suites are scattered around a central Spanish-style colonnaded courtyard with stone arches, and the décor throughout is elegantly sober: think halls and common areas that showcase the original masonry, pre-Columbian textiles and plenty of original murals. The manor’s restaurant offers á la carte Peruvian fusion food conjured up with the freshest ingredients, and breakfast is a generous buffet. And when R&R calls, the onsite Yacu therapy room is perfect for a healthy dose of pampering.

The rooms

With only 11 suites, the Inkaterra feels more like a private pad than a hotel. Be it a Plaza, Balcón or Patio suite, the King (or twin) beds all have 100% pima cotton sheets, anti-allergenic pillows and a soft-as-a-feather down duvet. Spacious marble bathrooms are equipped with a standing tub and separate shower, Inkaterra hand-made toiletries and lush towels. And with rooms checked three times a day, an amazing turndown service AND a stone fireplace in every room, you’ll even be looking forward to bunking down for the night!

Activities

Inkaterra La Casona is a three-minute walk from the imposing Cathedral of Cusco, and there are several other sights close enough to explore by foot, like the 12-angled stone, the San Blas neighbourhood or the Museum of pre-Columbian Art (literally next door). Foodies will be delighted to hear that the hotel is within walking distance of some of the city’s best restaurants, bars and cafés. And, if you like your explorations with a knowledgeable guide by you side, browse the (long) list of half-day or full-day experiences offered by the hotel.

Insiders Tip

One of Cusco’s top restaurants, La Cicciolina, is only a couple of blocks away - don’t leave without trying it. The food is fabulous, and the atmosphere even better!
Something to think about

Something to think about

The restaurant is a guests-only affair and there’s no bar (although drinks can be served in the common spaces), so if you’re looking for a livelier dining atmosphere, head outside.
