The bigger sister of Kwihala Camp just down the road, Jabali is one of Ruaha's most sophisticated offerings. Taking inspiration from the heart-stoppingly beautiful Ruaha landscape of baobabs, palms and rippling kopjes, architect Nick Plewman and designer Caline Williams have waved goodbye to everything you ever imagined a safari camp should be. The property

Perched on a pretty kopje next to the Mwagusi Sand River, views from Jabali across the vast Ruaha wilderness are stunning, and with a sun-soaked infinity pool, enormous wooden viewing decks and no less than two main areas, there are plenty of spots to enjoy them from. There’s also a spa in which to rejuvenate tired safari limbs, some rather unusual dining locations amongst the lofty boulders and a few other surprises too... Talk about pulling out all the stops.

The rooms

Light and bright, sultry and sophisticated, Jabali’s ten bedrooms are hidden in the shade of the boulders and are perfectly, wonderfully private. Outside, there are sunken decks for relaxing and view-gazing (and hopefully a long, lazy breakfast or two or three) and inside, enormous king-sized four-posters, gauzy mosquito nets and a great dollop of style. Each will be cocooned in stylish wooden shutters – leave them open for a fluttering breeze or close them and drift off to the gentle sounds of the Tanzanian night…

Activities

In a place the size of New Jersey but with less than half the visitors of the Serengeti, Ruaha is the very definition of an exclusive experience. And with a prime location next to the Mwagusi River and direct access to the best game viewing area in the park, Jabali Ridge promises just that. Explore the area on game drives and night drives with exceptional guides and expect gourmet ‘bonnet picnics’ and surprise pop-up lunches. Or simply kick back and relax in camp – we couldn’t think of a better place to do it.

Something to think about

Although the exterior blends almost seamlessly into the environment, the furnishings at Jabali are all uber contemporary and whilst they look fabulous, some of the chairs and sofas aren’t the comfiest!

Through collaboration with stakeholders and guest contributions, they achieve significant positive impacts. Their latest project, focusing on the Usangu Wetlands in Tanzania's Ruaha National Park, aims to promote sustainable tourism while preserving the region's unique ecosystem and biodiversity, ensuring long-term benefits to conservation and local communities. A contribution of $10 per guest, which is included in the nightly rate, goes towards the above goals.
