The public areas have a glorious African ambience. The main lodge where the informal check-in and check –out processes take place is bright and colourful and overlooks a small stream. It is also where meals are usually served. A large fireplace and a circular fire pit will keep guests warm on cool evenings. The swing bridge that one crosses when entering and leaving the lodge makes one feel like Indiana Jones. Facilities include a swimming pool and an outdoor gym.
Jaci's Safari Lodge has eight tented-style suites decorated in vibrant colours and designed with comfort and relaxation in mind. Each suite boasts a soft and luxurious bed, an expansive stone bath, a private outdoor shower and a suspended viewing deck from where one can watch the wildlife. Two are exclusive suites which sleep families of six and eight, and feature a private plunge pool and deck as well as a private game drive vehicle.
Activities include a variety of safaris, including game drives, bush and river walks, birding, conservation and photographic safaris. There are two hides, Jaci’s Star Bed, a four-poster bed on top of a hide, where guests can enjoy a night out in the wild, and the Terrapin Hide, which is in the centre of a water-hole and is accessible via an under-water tunnel. Both offer great photographic opportunities. A games room and swimming pools will keep the young ones entertained.
It’s easily accessible, malaria-free and you’ll spot the Big Five – what’s not to love?
