The dining area is in the main lodge where brunch and high tea are served. Dinners are usually around a fire under the African stars if the weather is suitable. Menus feature fresh, seasonal South African produce and meats. A large fireplace separates the lounge and bar area from the dining room and the quaint curio shop. Tree Lodge guests have access to a swimming pool surrounded by comfortable loungers, perfect for relaxing on after a refreshing swim.
Jaci’s Tree Lodge provides accommodation in 8 luxurious rooms built on wooden stilts and joined by suspended wooden walkways. The thatched, wooden tree-houses overlook the Marico River and blend in with their surroundings, allowing guests to connect with the nature around them. The rooms are decorated in vibrant reds and greens, complemented by African elements, and boast an outdoor shower, a stone bath, heating and air conditioning. Wooden balconies extend into the wide open forest from each of the rooms.
Activities include a variety of safaris, including game drives, bush and river walks, and birding safaris. There are two hides offering great photographic opportunities: Jaci’s Star Bed, a four-poster bed on top of a hide, where guests can enjoy a night out in the wild, and the Terrapin Hide, which is in the centre of a water-hole and is accessible via an under-water tunnel. Guests can also curl up with a book in the lounge or go for a swim.
It’s easily accessible, malaria-free and you’ll spot the Big Five – what’s not to love?
