About Janu Tokyo

Full of understated charisma, Janu is a top city spot with views of Tokyo Tower.
The younger, more energetic sister of the iconic Aman brand, Janu has arrived on the scene with a fresh take on luxury. The sole hotel within the mod Azabudai Hills community, Janu enjoys pride of place in the visionary Residence A Tower. The entire hotel is coolly stylish, dressed in hues of cream and sand, with suites that reach up to 284 square metres in size – they are among Tokyo's largest. The hotel has a whopping eight eateries and bars, where you can enjoy everything from Cantonese specialties to melt-in-your-mouth pastries. And don't even get us started on the palatial wellness centre!

Property details

The property

While there are plenty of fine restaurants just a short walk away, Janu's own collection is more than worth a few meals. You can expect hearty Italian cuisine prepared in steamy open kitchens and served on the terrace, superb grilled dishes served in a private dining room, ocean-fresh sashimi, and their own interpretation of the traditional sumibiyaki grill, all of which celebrate the very best of each season. With a 25-metre-long swimming pool, two 'Spa Houses' and hydrotherapy rooms, the wellness centre will have you walking on air.

The rooms

Spanning eight storeys, Janu has 122 light-filled rooms and suites, all of which have floor-to-ceiling windows displaying splendid views of Tokyo Tower and the city. They range in size from 55 to 284 square metres and the largest is the Janu Suite, which boasts two balconies, a private study, full kitchen and dining area and walk-in closet. The rooms all feature a king-sized bed as well as a spacious bathroom with a rain shower and enormous bath tub. Their aesthetic is minimalist and elegant, blending an Asian and European flair.

Activities

Take the time to explore the Azabudai Hills Garden Plaza, a multi-layered landscape punctuated by a pretty orchard, vegetable garden and huge central green surrounded by overlapping walkways. You can also visit the delightful art galleries nearby and peruse the Azabudai Hills Market. A little further afield, wander through the striking Senso-ji Temple or explore Takeshita Street, a hub of colourful street fashion. You can also take a walkabout through the Tsukiji Outer Market, sampling the delicacies as you go.

Insiders Tip

It's worth visiting as the city is turned a shade of baby pink when the cherry blossoms arrive, usually between late March and early April in Tokyo.
Something to think about

Something to think about

Janu is far more 'city-slick' than the Aman properties you might be used to, but it's no less immaculate in its design.
