The double-storey stone and thatch lodge has everything you might expect of a stylish family bush retreat, with generous open-plan lounge and dining areas, a snug library and children’s play room downstairs. A wide veranda leads down onto broad sweeps of lawn, with a viewing platform overlooking the reserve. Within the gardens, there is a floodlit tennis court, and a salt-water swimming pool with sun loungers strategically placed to soak up the sun and the views of the surrounding bushveld.
Jembisa Bush House has five spacious en-suite double bedrooms featuring natural tones and colourful contemporary touches, with a comfortable homely feel all round. Three of the rooms have private balconies. A separate bunkroom for up to four children offers privacy for the adults and independence for the younger family members, and cots are available if required. One of the highlights at Jembisa is to spend a night camping out under the stars.
The beauty of having Jembisa to yourself means absolute freedom to explore the reserve at your own pace. Daily game drives and bush walks offer the chance to see a variety of plains game, with the exciting possibility of spotting leopard, aardvark and civet at night. Visit ancient bushman rock art sites, pack a picnic and stay out all day, or enjoy a massage while the kids play tennis, swim, and learn some bushcraft skills in the Junior Tracking Academy.
