Property details

The property

The lounge and dining area sit under a light and airy thatched roof with open sides, a large wooden dining table adorned with romantic lamps during the night hours. At its heart sits a trunk of an ancient leadwood tree turned into a beautiful little bar area, the perfect place for story sharing and exchanging photography tips. Below the main ‘Chitenge’, the Main Deck is located on the Luangwa River, with ample relaxation space to allow you to soak in as much wildlife as possible on the river itself.

The rooms

The simply designed five standard chalets and one deluxe suite named “The First House”, of brick and thatch are delightfully decorated and comfortable base for your wildlife exploration. Adorned with blue tones – unique to the safari world - each has all the amenities you would need. A real attraction is your outdoor bath and on the river edge a private deck, built overlooking the river which gives you ample opportunity to get in as much game viewing as possible.

Activities

The South Luangwa is known for its game viewing and the area around Kaingo is no exception. Elephants, hippos and crocodiles make use of the river bank right outside the chalets, and lion, leopard and even wild dog are regulars on game drives. Walking safaris are also available as are visits to the photography hides, sleepouts and fly camping. If you’ve got a special interest in birding, then make it known to the guides too – they really know what they’re talking about here.
