A large mess tent is home to the camp's main area, where a lounge furnished with comfortable sofas and colourful African-inspired fabrics looks directly out on to the open plain. It's an intimate setting, with a fireplace, dining area and a well-stocked bar, so you'll feel right at home. A well-curated bookshelf encourages you to sit back, as does the campfire beneath the stars, where an obligatory gin and tonic is always the perfect punctuation to a day on safari.
Eight canvas tents overlook the plain, framing the expansive view through large mesh, breeze-encouraging doors and windows. Long and rectangular, the ground-level tents make good use of their open-plan design with a few seating nooks inside and a bench seat and pair of comfortable patio chairs outside. Warm-toned rugs and patterned pillows give this large room a cosy feel. There's an en-suite bathroom with a flush toilet, double basin and large shower, and a desk to jot down your memories.
Twice-daily game drives will probably make up the bulk of your activities. Drives can be exhilarating, especially during the dry season, but potentially congested. If you're not adamant about staying where all the action is, you can roam and discover wonderful sightings away from the throngs. Take an early-morning hot-air balloon flight – it's a great way to slow down after the often frenetically paced land safaris, as are guided walks, where you can appreciate the bush on another level.
