About Kilimanjaro Climb

Standing on the roof of Africa.
Towering imperiously over the rippling tea plantations of north-eastern Tanzania, Mount Kilimanjaro is worthy of just about every superlative imaginable. The highest mountain in Africa, and the highest freestanding mountain in the world, it can actually be climbed without a great deal of technical know-how and is open to most people with a relative level of fitness. For the ultimate bucket list trip, scale the slopes of Kili before flying to the Serengeti or the beaches of Zanzibar for a dose of iconic Africa… and a very well-deserved reward!

Property details

The property

Look at Kili from above and you will see 7 paths trailing like ribbons up the side of the mountain. All of them take in different scenery and make for different climbs but most begin in the forest, pass through mountain moorland and finish in alpine desert. It is however time that’s the key – and by that we mean take lots of it. We would highly recommend a 7-10 day trek to allow for acclimatisation of both the height and temperature.

The rooms

Accommodation varies from route to route and of course, which company you choose to climb with. On several of the routes, you will find basic but comfortable mountain huts, but many companies now provide their own state-of-the-art tents and the cosiest of cosy sleeping equipment to keep you warm on the slopes. And if you’re really lucky, you might even find a hot shower at a couple of spots….

Activities

Climbing, climbing and more climbing!! On an 8 day trek, hiking hours can range from 3 to 8 a day, and probably around 10 on summit day. All climbs are accompanied by a team of expert porters, professional climbers trained in first aid and even a cook. The team you hike with are invaluable and we have chosen only the best companies to partner with whose guides offer intimate and personal experiences and allow you to fully enjoy your experience of a lifetime.
