The interiors are coolly simple with high ceilings and soft tones. It goes without saying that the easy-chic restaurant Horizon has some stellar ocean views to serve with a menu of farm-to-table dishes. For a more casual occasion, the Beach Shack is decorated with driftwood and serves its meals on the sand - the grilled seafood is divine! Grab something thirst-quenching from the thatched bar before heading over to the spa for a suitably indulgent massage. The pool has a creative, tiered design and loungers well-positioned for a snooze.
Barely off the golden shoreline, Koh Russey has a collection of air-conditioned villas and pavilions, with a mod and minimalist style. Walls of glass let in the idyllic view and an open-plan design means the bedroom (with a luxe king-sized bed) flows into the bathroom, which comes with a rainfall shower and alfresco tub. The one to four-bedroom villas are larger with a lounge in honey-coloured wood, and some have a dining area, kitchenette or private pool and cabana overlooking the sea.
Start your mornings with yoga to the sound of bubbling waves or dive straight in with your choice of watersports - kayaking or stand-up paddleboarding around the bay, and snorkelling off a nearby island (with a picnic on the sand). Explore the island in your own time with a scenic bicycle ride, visit a countryside pagoda to receive a blessing from a monk or watch a classic film under the stars. Learn to cook like a local and enjoy the spoils for lunch!
A true paradise island. White sands, clear blue water, beautiful palms.
