Kuyenda really is the quintessential Zambian bushcamp - intimate, full of character and lovingly rebuilt every season after the rains. The thatched main area is delightfully simple with a small seating area overlooking the rippling grasses of the plains and Manzi River beyond and a well-stocked bar, essential for that after-dinner whiskey around the campfire. Heart, home-cooked meals are served communally, outside if the weather permits, and usually accompanied by adventurous safari tales!
Three of the little thatched rooms have twin beds and views of the Manzi riverbed from the panoramic windows and a fourth is tucked away at the side of camp with an enormous king size bed and views of the open plains, dotted with impala and puku. All rooms have colourful furnishings, big mosquito nets and lots of storage space whilst bathrooms are open to the skies with traditional bucket showers.
Kuyenda is all about walking and is situated in one of the park’s most wonderful walking areas. You’ll traverse grassy plains and open dambos, visit the natural salt springs and explore palm islands next to the nearby Luangwa and Manzi Rivers. Game drives are also available but there’s normally only one guide in camp so activities are usually in a single group. Please let us know if you would like to be guided by Phil so we can check his schedule.
