The guest areas are spacious and free-flowing, separated only by a double-sided fireplace, creating a sophisticated but relaxing environment. The decor is tranquil, with neutral colours and African touches that don't detract from the wilderness views. Beyond the sliding glass doors is a generous wraparound viewing deck with comfortable chairs that invite you to settle back to observe the bush and its inhabitants. There is a library, a gift shop, a wine cellar and a fire-lit boma for the occasional communal meal.

Nine luxurious thatched suites, beautifully furnished in neutral colours, feature fold-back doors to allow guests to soak up the striking surroundings. Each suite has a large bed, deep-seated chairs, an en-suite bathroom with indoor and outdoor showers, air-conditioning, hairdryer, personal minibar and a covered wooden deck with plunge pool and recliners to make sure you have a relaxing stay.

A game drive is the best way to explore this Big Five reserve. For a more intimate experience, take a guided walk to track some of the world's most impressive species. Bush walks allow you to observe the smaller species – the birds, insects and vegetation. Visit the local village and community centre for a look at what goes on behind the safari experience or, at an extra cost, get involved in a tracking or darting expedition with Rhino Conservation – an experience not to be missed.
