The main house has a cosy guest lounge with an open fireplace, doors open to a spacious front veranda with comfortable couches and lovely views of the landscaped gardens and Franschhoek mountains. Delicious breakfasts, served on the paved outdoor terrace overlooking the swimming pool and lawns, will set you up for a day's sightseeing. For the best views, stroll to the top of the vineyards (don't forget your camera!!).
In the main house are three spacious en-suite double or twin rooms and one smaller option. The rooms are botanically themed (they're named for trees featured in the garden – Jacaranda, Cork Oak, Prunus and Syringa), with classic country-chic style. All have log fires or underfloor heating and lovely views, and some have French doors opening on to the pool patio. Two freestanding garden suites offer extra space and privacy, with open fires, a small dining area and private verandas.
Franschhoek activities focus on wine-tasting tours, and the Franschhoek 'hop-on, hop-off' Wine Tram Tour is one of the best ways to discover the true essence of some of South Africa’s oldest and most distinguished wine estates. Stroll into Franschhoek for some shopping and gallery gazing, or if you're feeling adventurous, head for the mountains for some horse riding, mountain biking, hiking the fynbos trails in the local nature reserves, or birdwatching. Keen on fishing? This is good fly-fishing territory.
