The Orchard Cottages are all about privacy so there isn’t really a communal shared space. Each individual cottage does, however, have an indoor living and dining area with log fires for the winter evenings and large, airy windows to let in the summer breeze. Outdoor living is important in this part of the world so you can expect large and shady outdoor verandas, all with braai facilities – something else that’s important here!
The Orchard Cottages are simply beautiful and the utmost care and attention has been taken with every detail. Inside, you’ll find squashy sofas adorned with Indian throws, cosy fireplaces and plenty of white-washed wall space. The two- and three-bedroom cottages all have small country kitchens (complete with lovely cooking equipment, of course) whereas the one-bedrooms only have a tea station and a fridge. Spectacular views of the mountains and mini plunge pools complete the incredibly relaxing picture.
The Cape Winelands are really all about the wine and it wouldn’t be a proper visit without sampling a good few grapes. Stroll into the village and visit some of the smaller, more central wineries on foot or hire a car and driver and head out to the large vineyards on the outskirts of town. If you’re feeling really daring, you can also wine taste by bicycle or horse – ask us for details! Otherwise, take it easy and stroll around the shops and galleries in town, drink coffee with the locals and laze by the pool, planning which restaurant you’re going to eat at next.
