Property details

The property

Boardwalk-style pathways lead through the pretty gardens to the 'treehouse' spa, where the most relaxing of Ayurvedic treatments take place, and a little further down is the secluded lap pool, complete with a deck to enjoy a little peace and quiet. Down at the NOA Beach Club, tunes play out, sun loungers are scattered under the palms, and tasty barbecued lunches are served, always with a chilled cocktail. Head to the main restaurant for delicious, traditional breakfasts and seafood-centred dinners - the Caribbean lobster is divine - accompanied by Chilean and Argentinian wines.

The rooms

The interiors are pristine, minimalist and entirely white, accented by bright textiles and diverse artwork. The rooms located on the upper floor feature a private patio, while many of the suites on ground level boast garden views and are often much closer to the pool. Or check into the Ocean Suite and check out the stunning views of the Caribbean from your bed. The bathrooms are well-appointed with a rain shower, while Le Caméléon Suite enjoys a soaking bathtub.

Activities

While a massage at the spa and snoozing in a hammock sounds very appealing, there's plenty to see and do around Le Caméléon. Hike into Manzanillo's wildlife refuge, where howler monkeys, sloths and startling toucans lurk amongst the leaves, or see the forest from its canopy. Cahuita National Park is home to the largest coral reef system in Costa Rica, and diving and snorkelling amongst dazzling shoals of fish, turtles and stingrays is almost mandatory. The hotel also offers opportunities to meet members of the Bribri community and learn about their women-led chocolate making tradition.
