The 30-year-old villa has been refurbished with guests in mind. Its decor is a stylish blend of rustic art, contemporary furnishings and mod cons. The lounge is spacious, with a lovely stone fireplace at its heart. The kitchen is small but adequate. There's a big veranda with sofas that overlook the lawn and its exemplary sausage tree. The lake is just a few metres away – boulders and the private beach are the only interruptions between you and the vista.
You'll find six bedrooms, each with different sleeping configurations and various amenities, but all are modernly furnished and comfortable. One room offers a king-sized bed and en-suite bathroom with shower. Another room has two single beds and an en-suite bathroom with shower. The remaining four bedrooms offer a bunk bed (ideal for two young children), two single beds, a double bed and a king-sized bed and share two bathrooms. All rooms have adequate cupboard space, mosquito nets and ceiling fan.
There's lots to do in the area if you're willing to leave your private paradise. Monkey Bay offers a host of dive and boat-centred activities, from snorkelling and scuba diving to a sunset cruise. Boat excursions can also be arranged at nearby Norman Carr cottage, a short walk down the beach. The boathouse on the property has a few well-loved windsurfing boards you're welcome to use. Otherwise, cast a line, walk the lake's edge and relax poolside to your heart's content.
