Along a bend in the Talek river, reached by a swinging footbridge sits Mara Intrepids camp, tucked in a prime position inside the Maasai Mara National Reserve. Shaded by large trees along the river bank with everything being a short drive away this camp blends the wondrous comfort of permanent camping with efficient and welcoming staff and some lovely sweeping views over the surrounds. Close by is some exceptional game viewing-expect some thrilling river crossings! Enjoy drinks by the campfire, dinners in the bush or simply sitting on your porch listening to the grunts of hippos and the splash of crocodiles.




Spread out under a canopy of trees an extensive wooden deck extends out towards a large outdoor dining terrace, a little pathway leading down to the grotto styled swimming pool. Romantic hurricane lamps light up the thatch A-frame structures as you dine in multiple areas around the lodge, from down by the small riverfront to alfresco overlooking the bush and beyond. A small observation tower lets you spot anything moving along the river and surrounds.
Ascend through the bush up a few wooden stairs to a slightly raised platform where a spacious and well appointed tent, light canvas sides, creating that classical old safari feel. 30 tents are furnished with four poster beds draped in mosquito netting, air conditioning, light linens and a quaint writing desk as well as ensuite bathroom, the bush peeping through the roll up windows. There is a sense of privacy, a shaded outside platform faces out towards the Talek River.
Nothing can really beat the sheer beauty of being out in the plains of the Mara as millions of wildebeest, zebra and antelope make their way along the great migration, it is a once in a lifetime sight on the three daily game drives. Cultural trips to nearby villages as well as hot air balloon rides can be arranged. Back at camp there is a lovely pool area to relax in as well as an adventurers club for the kids.
