About Mara Simba Lodge

A riverside oasis where wildlife wanders past and the Great Migration unfolds.
Perched along the meandering banks of the Talek River, this unpretentious lodge captures the raw essence of the African bush. The property's prime position offers front-row seats to one of nature's most spectacular shows – the thundering hooves of wildebeest crossing the river during the Great Migration. But it's not just about the annual spectacle; resident hippos provide year-round entertainment with their grunting conversations, while elephants frequently amble past, treating the grounds as their personal shortcut to the water.

Property details

The property

The heart of the lodge is its double-story central area, where a breezy restaurant and convivial bar offer panoramic views over the bush. A curved swimming pool provides welcome respite from the afternoon heat, while the adjacent deck serves as an impromptu wildlife viewing platform – keep your binoculars handy for unexpected elephant appearances. The lounge area, with its pool table and oversized sofas, creates a clubhouse atmosphere where safari tales grow taller as the evening progresses.

The rooms

Stone pathways wind through manicured gardens to reach the rooms, each thoughtfully positioned to maximise river views. The accommodations come in three flavours – standard rooms, family units, and river-facing cottages. All feature traditional makuti thatch roofs and private verandas, with ceiling fans whirring lazily overhead. The decor is simple but comfortable, with local textiles adding splashes of colour to the neutral palette. River-facing rooms are the pick of the bunch, offering uninterrupted views of the wildlife highway below.
