The property

Shaped like the bow of a traditional dhow boat the open sided thatch mess tent serves as and communal dining area.A wonderfully eclectic space to pass away the hours decorated with locally crafted wooden furnishings and earthy tones.Dining and sundowners often take place on the shores of the lake around beach fires and romantic hurricane lanterns.There are sun loungers and umbrellas set out along the beach shore for those that want to sit back and take in the wild surrounds.

The rooms

Tucked into the lush trees sit ten luxury canvas safari tents, perched on raised wooden platforms above the sandy lake shores.King sized Zanzibarian four poster beds draped with light cotton sheets and mosquito netting add a lovely layer of safari comfort.Furnishings are simple and light, the triple room perfect for families. Sleeping on the edge of the forest canopy sitting on your deck looking out over Lake Tanganyika, the rustling of monkeys and birds all around you, is sheer bliss.

Activities

Mahale's natural and pristine environment will have you wanting to do nothing more than tap into your inner explorer. While chimpanzee trekking is the main activity don't feel bad about to spending time relaxing on the beach. There are plenty of trails in the area where you can spot birds, small predators, monkeys and primates. With the river system on your doorstep (literally) there is kayaking, boating and fresh water fishing trips.
