About Moonglow Guest House

Absorb the magic of False Bay at this uniquely South African guesthouse.
Perched on the protea-kissed slopes of Glencairn mountain, just outside Simon's Town, Moonglow has some of the best views across False Bay's beautiful coastline that we've ever seen. The four-star-rated guesthouse offers not only pristine accommodation and generous breakfasts, but the chance to indulge in some of the Cape Peninsula's most highly touted experiences too - think visiting the penguins at Boulder's Beach, exploring Cape Point, and enjoying scenic mountain drives and of course, seasonal whale watching. Happily, it's also a relatively short drive to Cape Town, meaning guests can easily travel into the Mother City - or the famed Cape Winelands beyond!

Property details

The property

The tasty, full English breakfast is served either in the dining room or the outdoor terrace, accompanied by gorgeous views of False Bay and the Hangklip Mountain. The communal area opens onto the terrace, with beautiful ocean views on every side. The vast collection of books, artworks and even some local South African memorabilia will keep you suitably entertained as you recline on soft couches, or cosy up next to a roaring fireplace in winter.

The rooms

With six diverse (but all equally as lovely) en-suite bedrooms, there's something for everyone at Moonglow. Try the Sunrise Room for the most magical, early-morning views, Grandmother's room with its antique beds, or the Best View of Simon's Town Room, which does exactly what it says on the tin! Each is well-decorated with unique touches - cheerful bedspreads that pop with colour, mohair blankets, African statues and hand-crafted basins - and has a TV, tea and coffee trays and a fan.

Activities

It might be hard to drag yourself away from Moonglow's cosy rooms, but try your hardest for the False Bay coastline is simply beautiful. Wander up and down the Main Street in Simon's Town, or head to the harbour for a history lesson. Further up the coast, there's Kalk Bay with it's quirky boutiques and excellent restaurants, and laid-back Muizenberg where the surfers go to chill. At the right time of year, keep your eyes peeled for whales and dolphins in the ocean, or book a boat trip to get closer to the action.
