Property details

The property

The two retreats can be booked individually or together for groups. Each has two bedrooms, both en-suite, a central lounge and dining area leading onto a deck and firepit area, and comes with its own chef. Each bedroom is very spacious with a large king size bed (twins are also possible) and views out over the Serengeti from the deck. The en-suite bathrooms have flush toilets, a double sink, shower and beautiful outdoor bath with a view, tucked away for privacy. It is possible to add 2 additional beds to accommodate children in each retreat - maximum capacity of each retreat is 6 people. Each retreat also comes with its own safari guide and private safari vehicle, allowing for an entirely flexible safari experience planned around your pace and preferences (within the bounds of national park rules). Shared between the two retreats is a swimming pool with sunloungers, lounge and library area as well as a large dining area to accommodate groups when both retreats are booked together. This is only for the use of guests at the retreats, not the main camp. The main Namiri Plains camp is located to one side of the retreats. It is possible to book one guest tent at the main camp in conjunction with each retreat. Retreat guests are able to book spa treatments at the main camp.

The rooms

The two Namiri Retreats are strategically placed to maximise the views. Bush immersion is the name of the game and the soothing decor invites total relaxation – aided by the outdoor bathtubs and enormous, shaded verandas. The area around the camp is a hive of activity and you’re never far from the action (even in your tent), so we advise you to keep your peepers peeled at all times…

Activities

Game drives are the best way to discover the amazing big cats of the eastern Serengeti (the area was closed for 20 years to allow the populations to regenerate) and you’re more than likely to bump into lion, cheetah and leopard on your excursions. More recently, guided walking safaris have been added to the roster and the guides are extremely knowledgeable, so soak up as much insider information as you can. And from November to June, the wildebeest of the Great Migration arrive in their hundreds of thousands. In short, you’re in for some of the best game viewing in one of the best national parks on the planet.

Insiders tip

Insiders Tip

After many years of being closed, this area of the Serengeti reopened in 2014 and the safari company that owns Namiri is the only one that’s allowed to operate meaning total privacy and exclusivity for you.
Something to think about

Something to think about

Namiri is certainly sophisticated but it’s also really quite remote and the surrounds can be tricky to navigate in the dark.
