Pale tents with sand-toned walls nestle against a rocky ridge, overlooking a patch of rapids on the Kunene River. The main area is comprised of two lounges, a library and a dining room - all with extremely chic, minimalist decor and an excess of luxurious cushiony chaise seating. Enjoy views from the grand open-sided tent or find a spot on one of the expansive outdoor decks. The rim-flow swimming pool sits at the centre of camp and lights sprinkle the walkways, creating an especially magical setting.
Scattered along the rocky hillside are six suites and one family room, each with a panoramic view. These are supremely luxurious yet eco-friendly tents with solar-powered lighting and water heaters. You'll find an enormous four-poster bed at the centre, draped with sheer mosquito netting. There is a lounge area and a large outdoor verandah. Ensuite bathrooms have indoor and alfresco showers. The family unit has two large bedrooms, each with its own bathroom and private verandah.
Boat excursions up and down the Kunene River will yield modest game viewing - with the exception of crocodiles and the river-loving birdlife. This is also a great place to fish, if you're so inclined. Or, you can venture to Namibia's Skeleton Coast for more dramatic scenes and oceanic angling. But the real draw here is the opportunity to interact with Namibia's native Himba tribe. Take a village tour to see their simple but rich way of life and don't pass up the chance to catch them perform their traditional dancing and singing.
