About Onguma Trails Camp

A back-to-nature walking safari with hot tubs under starlit skies.
For those yearning to feel the earth beneath their boots, this pioneering walking camp delivers adventure with comfort thrown in. A two-night minimum stay allows immersion into pristine wilderness, where four of the big five might just cross your path. The intimacy of four well-appointed bell tents creates a rather special atmosphere, whilst hot tubs and proper beds ensure you're not exactly roughing it. This winter-only affair (April to September) presents the perfect chance to discover the secrets that only reveal themselves on foot.

Property details

The property

The camp embraces eco-credentials without sacrificing comfort. Solar-powered lighting illuminates evenings, while torches and lanterns add old-world romance. A satellite phone keeps civilization within reach for emergencies, but there's no Wi-Fi or mobile signal to disturb your wilderness immersion. Camera charging facilities ensure no moment goes uncaptured, while the communal areas provide perfect spots for sharing tales of the day's discoveries.

The rooms

Four beautifully appointed bell tents dot the wilderness, each equipped with proper king or twin beds for post-walk recuperation. The ensuite setup includes a rather clever bucket shower (hot water provided, naturally) and an eco-friendly composting loo with a proper seat - no roughing it here. Each tent comes with its own wood-fired hot tub, perfect for star-gazing or wildlife spotting. While modern conveniences like air conditioning are absent, the canvas keeps things comfortable, and those proper beds with quality linens ensure sound sleep after days of exploration.
