Property details

The property

Amongst the terraced gardens, you'll find the charming Patio Colonial Hall. Decorated with classic furnishings and sitting beneath a grand chandelier, the restaurant opens onto a terrace through glass doors and serves a medley of Indonesian and international fare, all prepared with ingredients from the organic garden. The Kastil, on the other hand, is a more intimate dining space where you can enjoy a traditional Indonesian Rijsttafel feast. Beneath the trees, there is a huge pool with lots of comfy loungers and a small bar.

The rooms

The resort has a selection of traditional Javanese villas (some are more contemporary), each featuring a King-sized canopy bed atop a wooden platform, vintage furnishings, and fine objets d'arts. The bathrooms are fitted with rainfall showers, double sinks with round, gilded mirrors, and outdoor baths in the courtyard. Each villa has its own pool, but some are plunge and others are full-size. The Founder's Home has two bedrooms, a spacious living room and library and a sensational view of the Borobudur Temple.

Activities

Number one on the list is paying a visit to the Borobudur Temple, which was constructed in the 9th century and has since become one of Indonesia's most iconic landmarks. Of course, they don't call this area the 'Garden of Java' for nothing and you'll have a chance to explore the lush valleys and fields by bicycle, jeep or horseback. You can also engage with the local crafting scene with a lesson in batik dyeing, mask making or pottery.
