About Sabi Sabi Little Bush Camp

A small, romantic and super-stylish camp, tucked away in a peaceful corner of the bush.
Set in a private reserve that forms part of the greater Kruger Park, Little Bush Camp is an intimate hideaway for couples, families or small groups of friends. The camp shelters beneath the trees on the banks of the seasonal Msuthlu River, and is known for its regular sightings of the Big Five, particularly leopard. Outdoors all is wild and unpeopled; indoors, all is achingly luxurious, with private viewing decks, heated spa baths and cuisine to satisfy the fussiest palate. If your idea of a safari is fabulous accommodation in a truly wild setting, this camp will do very well.

Property details

The property

Raised above the ground under a single thatched roof, the airy communal spaces have large windows, wooden decking and river stones incorporated into the structure to echo the surroundings. Soft-pillowed seating areas are placed here and there to cater for quiet chats or a good read. The decor is Africa chic, with local fabrics and well-chosen artefacts. Meals are served indoors or outside overlooking the bushveld. Outside on the raised deck are chairs, a modest swimming pool and, beyond, a traditional boma.

The rooms

Six thatched tents lie on either side of the communal area. All typify high-end attention to detail, with air conditioning (vital for hot afternoons), designer beds draped with mosquito netting, an intimate lounge area, an en-suite bathroom with a tub and both indoor and outdoor showers. Outside on the private deck are chairs and a heated spa bath with an unending view. Need a massage? Sister property Earth Lodge has spa facilities.

Activities

Day and night game drive take centre stage, with loads of animals both diurnal and nocturnal. You are virtually guaranteed to see leopard, lion, elephant and buffalo on your first outing! Guided walking safaris produce far more intense encounters with a smaller range of species. Dining out beside the river or immersed in the bush is always exciting – it's the combination of fine food and the hint of danger that does it. For some retail therapy or a massage, visit one of the neighbouring lodges.

All six rooms have a heated spa-bath on the veranda, perfect for sipping champagne between safaris. A honeymooners delight if ever we saw one.

Insiders Tip

Make sure you request a dinner in the dry riverbed. It's the ultimate, toes-in-the-sand experience, lit only by lanterns and the stars overhead.
Something to think about

Something to think about

Little Bush Camp is set on a beautiful stretch of dry river bed, so whilst it doesn't necessarily have the expansive views of other camps in the reserve, there's a good chance an elephant will come strolling past to make up for it!
