About Sayari Camp

A large, sophisticated camp with incredible Great Migration and year-round game viewing.
Set close to the mighty Mara River in the northern Serengeti, Sayari is perfectly positioned for access to the exclusive Lamai Wedge and has a front row seat to the Great Migration when it passes through from July to October. The camp is one of the larger tented camps in the area, but its layout and location ensures exclusivity and intimacy. Built on raised wooden platforms with rolling panoramic views, you’d be hard pressed to picture a more idyllic place from which to enjoy Africa, or indeed, the migration. And migration aside, it’s a winner for phenomenal, year-round wildlife.

Property details

The property

Extremely comfortable and well appointed, Sayari possesses a modern, edgy feel. The camp has been cleverly split into nine and six tents. There is one dining-cum-lounge area per camp section, ensuring a spacious feel, while a communal fire for the whole camp maintains a social atmosphere. Floor to ceiling windows make the most of the incredible surroundings, and natural hues paint a soothing ambience. Dotted around the camp are unique places to relax, including the spa and a spillway shade seat beside the swimming pool. When you're thirsty, grab a drink at the Serengeti's first solar-powered microbrewery.

The rooms

Sayari Camp has fifteen stylish en-suite hillside rooms, including an indulgent honeymoon suite. The tents are about as luxurious as they come - we’re not even sure the word tent is appropriate. Built on raised wooden floors, with generous windows and a private veranda, they are well spaced with loads of privacy. Each suite’s spacious bathroom is equipped with a walk-in shower and a large egg-shaped bath. Expect everything you could possibly need in a room.

Activities

Sayari Camp offers the opportunity to experience the wilderness in a number of ways. Game drives led by friendly, experienced guides will fill you in on the secrets of the bush (they can be photography-focused too). And let's not forget a safari from the basket of a hot air balloon. Dining out in the bush is an experience unbeaten by any restaurant in the world, while cultural visits to the local community will leave you feeling warm and welcomed by the Serengeti's people. When night falls, it's time for stories swapped around the campfire.

Insiders tip

Insiders Tip

From July to October the Lamai region is awash with the wildebeest of the Great Migration – but in the emerald season, when the wildebeest leave, the game viewing is still phenomenal and you’ll have the wildlife all to yourself, predators included.
Something to think about

Something to think about

The camp is larger than most in the region and the rooms furthest from the main area are quite a walk, but it’s not a problem to request one that’s closer.
