Made infamous by the dropping of the Atomic Bomb during World War II, Hiroshima has been nearly entirely rebuilt, blossoming into a beautiful city filled with tranquil shrines, parks and riverside cafes. Well-positioned right in the hub of the action, the Sheraton is a fantastic hotel that checks every box. We're talking plenty of dining options, an indoor pool and the Sheraton's signature beds that ensure a superb night's rest. But by no means will you spend every moment inside; remember the tragic loss of life at the Peace Memorial Park, take in a Samurai performance, or make a day trip to the sublime Miyajima Island.

The Sheraton's shining star is Miyabi-Tei, their authentic Kaiseki restaurant, which serves ocean-fresh sushi and teppanyaki in a minimalist, elegant setting. You can also grab a drink at the bar or from the Lobby Lounge. With floor-to-ceiling windows that let in ample light, the Bridges Cafe serves a mean afternoon tea as well as all-day buffet dining. Other amenities include a gym, a superb spa, and a secluded pool surrounded by loungers with a view over the city.
Featuring deeply comfortable King-size 'Sheraton Signature Sleep Experience' beds, honey-coloured wooden furnishings and huge picture windows, the hotel has a choice of standard, deluxe and club rooms as well as five suites. All enjoy a desk and sitting area with views over the city or Inland Sea, a TV and photographs of Japan's iconic scenery, with the biggest difference being in their size. The open-plan bathrooms are pristine and white with marble countertops, a roomy tub and shower, and signature amenities.
You couldn't be in a better spot for exploring the sights of Hiroshima, beginning with the sobering Peace Memorial Park and Atomic Bomb Dome. Visit the idyllic Shukkeien Garden, peruse the rooms of Hiroshima Castle and wander through the exhibitions at the Hiroshima Prefectural Art Museum, not to mention the many shrines that adorn the city streets. You can also take a ferry ride to the famously scenic Miyajima Island, where you'll see the 'floating' Torii Gate and tuck into local cuisine.
The location really is superb — you're right beside the train and bus station, making it easy to zip around the city.
If you're celebrating whilst at the Sheraton, both restaurants have private dining rooms available.
The pool comes at an additional cost for anyone not in a Club room, so if you're planning to use it a lot, it could be worth going for the upgrade.

Experience the spirit of Hiroshima, which rose from ashes to become a symbol of peace.
