About Singita Pamushana Lodge

Extraordinary luxury and bush style in a true untamed African wilderness.
This camp has it all. Pamushana lies within the sizeable Malilangwe private reserve on the border of one of the biggest transfrontier parks in the world, Greater Limpopo. Largely unknown by the tourist circuits, this place makes you feel like an old-time explorer who's just struck gold. The activities are diverse and richly rewarding, ranging from very productive and exclusive game drives to world-class wine tasting and ancient rock art site visits. The camp's service is only of the highest standard; its design and phenomenal views (from every corner), are second to none. This is for the safari connoisseur.

Property details

The property

The communal spaces at Pamushana are decorated with colourful patterns and designs throughout, but with the liberal use of stone, fit into the natural environment. The open-air lounge, bar and dining areas extend onto a beautiful teak deck with two heated pools and a jacuzzi - all with some pretty impressive views across the Malilangwe dam and the surrounding sandstone hills. There's also a comprehensive cellar stocked with world-class wines, and a library as well as a gym and spa. If you want it, there's even TV, internet and phone access, as well as tennis courts and a nearby golf course.

The rooms

There are four one-bedroom suites, two family suites (sleeping four and six) and one five-bedroom villa, which sleeps ten. Spectacular views come standard from each suite's own private deck, complete with plunge pool. The suites are vibrantly decorated and spacious, yet cosy - thanks to the brick fireplace, perfect for the cold winter months. Don't worry - there's also air conditioning for the summertime. All the rooms have several comfortable seating options (inside and out) and en-suite bathrooms with indoor and outdoor showers. Additionally, the villa has its own kitchen, lounge and dining room – just swop the plunge pool for an infinity pool. Or you give up your room and spend an unforgettable night in a private hide in the bush.

Activities

Pamushana is the only tourist camp in the private 60,000 hectare Malilangwe Wildlife Reserve, bordering Gonarezhou National Park. There is a wide assortment of activities on offer, including game drives, night drives, boat cruises on the Malilangwe dam and fishing for tiger fish, bream and bass. The reserve is home to the Big 5, including both black and white rhino, as well as several other rare species like cheetah, wild dog, sable and roan and an incredible 400 species of birds. There are a variety of walking options available - visit a local San Bushman rock art site, or trek through the riparian woodland of the Chiredzi or Runde Rivers. Spend a few hours in one of the several hides, or pay a visit to the local community for sprinkling of cultural flavour.

What you'll love

What you'll love

Drinking fine wine and eating good food at the base of an enormous baobab, overlooking the fairy-tale reserve of bubbling streams and forests - it feels too good to be true.
Insiders tip

Insiders Tip

Tracking rhino on foot is about as exhilarating and rewarding as game viewing can get, and gives you a sense of the importance of this reserve and the need for its conservation.
Something to think about

Something to think about

This is not the Kruger and the wildlife is at times harder to spot – but the tracking and elation when you find what you’re looking for (and the absence of other cars) is worth it.

An undeveloped wilderness where conservation is alive and well and game viewing is pretty good too.
