The towering iron-coloured facade may lead you to believe that you’ve arrived at the entrance to a north African souk. But you’d be mistaken. This is the grand entrance to your relaxed desert headquarters. Some of your time will be spent on the large terrace overlooking the waterhole and some will be spent cooling down in the lawned swimming pool area. The beer garden is a quiet spot under the trees and for cooler nights there’s a lounge with a fireplace.
Get a taste of olde-worlde Africa in the spacious guest rooms - floating under canvas. You must try a tent at least once in Africa and this is by far the easiest way. The tent has interior walls, stone-tiled floors and a roomy en-suite bathroom. You won’t find any camping cots here, just scrumptious twin beds with crisp linen and air con to boot. We recommend the tents on the edge of the premises for the best views from your porch.
Don’t be fooled by this quiet and remote location … there is plenty to see and do. First off, get a sense of where you are on a guided trip into Sossusvlei. Marvel at the juxtaposed colour and beauty of Dead Vlei and feel on top of the world when you mount the ridge of Sossusvlei dune. Get some perspective with a balloon trip across this exquisite rust-coloured desertscape and be sure to book a sundowner trip with the lodge to bid adieu to another beautiful day in Namibia.
