About Strandloper Ocean Boutique Hotel

Unwind in total luxury with the ocean on your doorstep and a pristine beach to explore.
For blissful indulgence of the sand and sea kind, the Strandloper Ocean Boutique Hotel is hard to beat. Nestled amongst the pretty, whitewashed cottages on the quieter side of town, the hotel is literally steps away from an 8km stretch of untouched beach and perfectly private. Beyond the stylish décor, sweeping vistas of wild fynbos and rolling dunes complete the barefoot, beach-chic atmosphere and really, all that’s left to do is kick off your shoes, drink in the fresh, salty air and forget the riots of daily life (helped by a large gin & tonic on the terrace, of course).

Property details

The property

A fusion of laid-back luxury and contemporary style, the main areas at the Strandloper are all bleached wood, high ceilings and plenty of shimmering glass and light. Relax on the open-air terrace and dip into the outdoor pool in summer, or cosy up in front of the roaring fire in winter. But if the idea of leaving your sanctuary doesn’t appeal then don’t worry—the on-site restaurant serves sumptuous breakfasts and elegant dinners, with light lunches and afternoon tea in between.

The rooms

Of the 13 exquisite suites, 5 face the ocean and the others look out over the nature reserve but all have private terraces or courtyards, huge wooden doors and vast windows from which to soak up the picturesque surroundings. Bathrooms are a delight and there’s outdoor rain showers, huge tubs and steaming hot internal showers to choose from. Our hot tip is Oceanus, the largest and most beautiful private suite overlooking both the ocean and the natural landscape, perfect for honeymooners.

Activities

There’s plenty to keep you entertained in Paternoster, from the art galleries that line the streets to the mouth-watering selection of restaurants. Explore the area on foot or by bike, or take to the water in a kayak and search for whales and dolphins. Further afield, nature buffs will appreciate the birds of the Langebaan Lagoon or the wildlife of Tittiesbaai Nature Reserve, both a short drive down the coast. Or simply relax in simple, seaside luxury… we would!

What you'll love

What you'll love

It's near impossible to pick the thing we love most about the Strandloper, so here we go with a few of our faves: the in-room, wood-burning stoves on chilly nights, ocean views straight from the pillows, the (huge) bathtubs and the impeccable restaurant, Leeto.
Insiders tip

Insiders Tip

With its enormous outdoor patio, swanky electric blinds, Nespresso coffee machine and a bed big enough for a family of four, the Oceanus suite will have you wobbly at the knees.
Something to think about

Something to think about

Paternoster can get very windy in the summer months and the Strandloper, with it's beautiful, beachside location, can feel rather exposed. Be prepared to batten down the hatches if you need to...
