Property details

The property

The main lodge, raised above the ground, is intriguingly built around a large baobab tree. The ceilings are high, there's a sunken lounge with comfortable seating and a deck that overlooks the watering hole, the pool and the landscape beyond. Drink at the bar (try the cocktails) and enjoy fine meals in the dining room, entertained by local Masai singers. For your safety, you'll be escorted to and from your rooms. There are barbecue facilities, mobile connectivity and wi-fi.

The rooms

Twenty spacious suites (each is 65 square metres) are elevated in the trees. Each is far, far more than a simple treehouse. Climb the circular staircase, and you'll find huge beds, hardwood floors, fans, comfortable seating, an exotic double-shower en-suite bathroom, a wide-open frontage and a private balcony oriented to enjoy views of the sunset, sunrise or the waterhole. The furnishings are warm and welcoming, combining locally crafted pieces and European chic. A butler will attend to your needs.

Activities

Your game drive begins the minute you're in the car. Explore the private reserve on foot or safari vehicle by day or night, or take a daytime drive into the national park. The Tarangire River flows through the park, so wildlife flocks here during the dry season. When the rains come, the area becomes a lush swampland that is home to large populations of breeding birds. See the Big Five, go birdwatching and get close to all the game.

What you'll love

What you'll love

It has to be the rooms. Sleeping safe and sound in your treehouse of luxury, surrounded by branches and overlooking the plains of Tanzania is pretty damn hard to beat.
Insiders tip

Insiders Tip

If you can, book treehouse number six. With baobab branches running through the roof and up the walls, it's our very favourite.

Something to think about

Bear in mind that access to each treehouse is via a steep set of stairs, which may not be suitable for everyone.
