About The Alphen Boutique Hotel

A converted manor house with a rich Cape Dutch heritage and modern flair in Constantia.

The Alphen is an elegant boutique hotel in Cape Town's historic Constantia Valley, one of the oldest and most renowned wine producing regions in the Cape. With a history dating back to its origins as a wine farm in the early seventeenth century, this beautiful hotel still has a timeless Cape Dutch feel, with a modern designer edge and exceptional facilities. Accommodation consists of 19 plush suites in glorious park-like grounds, and the three restaurant are simply fabulous, as are the eateries in the surrounding vineyards. In fact, you might not even have enough time to try them all!

Property details

The property

The Alphen has several elegant guest lounges and a trio of excellent dining venues, each with its own distinct atmosphere and style. The delightful La Belle bistro offers a relaxed option for breakfast and light meals, while Blanko, with its sophisticated vintage feel, provides a magical dinner setting. The contemporary Incognito Bar opens out onto a sheltered terrace, perfect for summer evenings. In the grounds, there is also a large swimming pool and sun deck, surrounded by pretty, manicured lawns.

The rooms

The nineteen suites are spread across three manor houses in the grounds, whilst one is completely separate from the main hotel area. All have a unique design, with quirky bohemian touches adding a modern element to the vintage interiors. The bathrooms are fabulous and all come complete with rain showers and deep bath tubs. Size-wise, the rooms range in size from the standard (but not exactly small) Classic Suites, to slightly larger Superior Suites with a lounge, and the biggest of them all, the Deluxe Suites. Extra touches include espresso machines, WiFi, and 24-hour room service.

Activities

The Alphen has plenty of space to relax, with vast, park-like grounds to explore and a wonderful swimming pool and sun deck to while away an hour or two. Its location is perfect for exploring the Constantia Valley, with a number of famous vineyards on the doorstep and world-class restaurants close by, although we reckon you’ll be hard pressed to leave the hotel! Head into the Mother City for a day of sightseeing, or take a leisurely drive around the stunning Southern Peninsula coastline.

You’re very much in the suburbs here, although it's only a short drive back to Cape Town's lively city centre if you fancy a change of scenery.
