The Hide and Changa 2025 Combo
The main area is a thatched double story A-frame with a large upstairs lounge and viewing area. There's another lounge downstairs with some very comfortable chairs, just adjacent to the dining room. A plunge pool sits to the one side of the deck, along with a small library. Don't miss out on a visit to the well-stocked wine cellar which adds a real touch of class to this camp. There's one more lounge and a few chairs scattered around a funny tiled area which both seem oddly out of place. For a more exclusive experience you can book the "Private Hide" on the edge of camp - a kind of outdoor living room, where you can dine or relax in complete private luxury.
There are ten rooms which range in luxury and include two family chalets and two honeymoon suites. Each of the canvas tents is covered with a shade-giving thatched A-frame and has a polished concrete veranda overlooking the waterhole. En-suite bathrooms have a separate toilet cubicle and the honeymooners even get an outside bath. There's a writer's desk and plenty of space for luggage storage. Tom's Little Hide is an additional accommodation option at one end of the main camp and consists of a beautifully decorated two-bedroom house with a dining room and an outdoor veranda and plunge pool; there is actually a third room (more of a family tent), which brings the maximum occupancy to ten. Tom's Little Hide is booked exclusively and comes with a private guide and vehicle. And for a little added romance and adventure, try a sleep-out at the Dove's Nest.
While the Hide is located within Hwange National Park, it is also on its own private concession, affording you certain additional activities like night drives and bush walks. Here, there's no limit to how much you can do each day. Typically, the day starts with an early morning walk or drive and returns for breakfast, after which you might head out again for a longer drive or take it easy in one of the private hides dotted around the concession. Afternoon activities get going after tea and usually culminate in a sunset drink and a night drive back to camp. But, if you'd like, you can go out again after dinner to see what's on the prowl.
