About The Silo

An urban masterpiece that towers over the waterfront with spectacular views and rooms.
The Silo is a unique ultra-modern structure which has been transformed from a former grain silo into a magnificent luxurious hotel with a dramatic futuristic feel. This industrial-style marvel of architecture and design is positioned above the Zeitz Museum of Contemporary Art Africa (MOCAA), home to an ever-changing series of exhibitions, featuring some of Africa’s most talented artists. It's a brand new addition to Cape Town’s iconic skyline in a prime position on the lively V&A Waterfront, with astounding all-round views of the harbour, the City Bowl, and Table Mountain.

Property details

The property

The ground floor of the building, is an immense hall with an industrial-style feel, and houses the Zeitz MOCAA. The original elevator shaft has been transformed into a futuristic-looking atrium rising up through the centre of the tower to the floors above, where the hotel is based. With a spa, fitness centre and several stylish bars and bistros, the Silo has it all. At the top of the hotel is a rooftop restaurant and glass swimming pool, with a Sky Terrace overlooking the city and harbour.

The rooms

Twenty eight en-suite lavishly decorated rooms, including one spectacular rooftop penthouse suite, are located across the upper hotel levels, with staggering views of the city, harbour and Table Mountain. Each is individually decorated, and features original African artwork and elegant urban-inspired designer touches. The rooms vary in size, with plenty of vertical space and floor-to-ceiling pillowed glazing panels which have been cleverly designed to give the windows a slight balloon effect and a beacon-like glow at night.

Activities

Private tours of the art museum are available, and spa facilities, a fitness centre and rooftop swimming pool provide on-site activities. The V&A Waterfront is one of Cape Town’s top tourist attractions, with a wealth of restaurants, bars and world-class shopping right on your doorstep. It’s well placed for exploring the city and the surrounding scenic peninsula with numerous outdoor adventure activities on offer. Beautiful beaches, tranquil nature reserves and famous winelands are all within easy driving distance.

Insiders tip

Insiders Tip

Not all rooms have views of the city and mountains (the best vista in our opinion!) so make sure to request a southern facing one.

Something to think about

The bar and restaurant can get busy so expect to wait a few minutes for your pomegranate daiquiri at sundowner time.
