Property details

The property

The Ubuntu Camp setup is cozy, with two tents divided into a dining room and a lounge, where the guests converge to eat, relax and mingle. The crackling campfire is just in front of these tents, creating the perfect atmosphere to get to know your fellow travellers. Relaxing with a cocktail in hand, listen as your guide enchants you with tales of the bush.

The rooms

There are eight simple but comfortable en-suite tents, including two family tents, each with a private veranda from which to soak up the panoramic views. They are arranged evenly on either side of the two communal tents and are a good distance apart, ensuring that your every need is met without detracting from your wilderness experience. Everything has been considered - there are even wellies provided lest you get your toes wet!

Activities

The focus of Ubuntu Camp is to keep you as close to the Great Migration action as possible, and this is best done through vehicle-based safari. In the southern camp, a walking safari is an exceptional way to take in all the magical subtleties of the bush, from the animal's perspective. Cultural evenings can be organised by Ubuntu camp - providing a chance to meet the friendly locals and witness the unique rhythm of Africa.

What you'll love

In the local language, Ubuntu means ‘kindness and compassion’ and you won’t meet a friendlier team than the one here. Warm and funny, nothing is ever too much trouble and you’ll leave with several new friends in your address book.

Ubuntu is one of the most affordable camps in the Serengeti for up close and personal migration viewing. Spend a few nights here, then move on to a more luxurious camp for a spot of R&R and a gentler pace of life.
Something to think about

Something to think about

This isn’t a camp for glitz, glamour and R&R and instead, the guides concentrate on taking you to the heart of the migration action and experiencing the absolute best of the real African bush.

The impact of your stay

Ubuntu Migration Camp is owned by Asilia Africa who pioneers sustainable investments in vulnerable East African wilderness areas, fostering conservation economies for local communities and increasing biodiversity. Through collaboration with stakeholders and guest contributions, they achieve significant positive impacts. Their latest project, focusing on the Usangu Wetlands in Tanzania's Ruaha National Park, aims to promote sustainable tourism while preserving the region's unique ecosystem and biodiversity, ensuring long-term benefits to conservation and local communities. A contribution of $10 per guest, which is included in the nightly rate, goes towards the above goals.
