Looking for somewhere to holiday with your kids? Voyager Beach is ideal – a seaside resort with a sociable vibe that's perfect for families or sociable travellers. While it's hardly a remote island getaway, the resort offers both fun and relaxation in equal measure. It lies on pretty Nyali Beach, near Mombasa, in a colour palette of white sands, ocean blues, and greens. There's room for a huge number of guests, and activities for nearly every hour of the day. While there are plenty of quiet corners to slip into, we'd recommend this destination for some really happy family fun.

The sprawling grounds, dotted with towering palms, explosive bougainvilleas and innumerable puddles of cool garden shade, are ideal for an afternoon nap. The long beachfront is immaculate. The resort has three restaurants, four bars (including one poolside) and three pools – one for the littles to ensure things are never congested. If you're paying full-board, the buffets from breakfast to dinner groan with colourful, abundant, and tasty spreads.
The 236 spacious cabins sleep either three or four guests and are clustered into several large blocks to maintain optimal peace and quiet. Somewhat miraculously, despite the resort's size, everything is immaculate and seemingly personalised. There are garden rooms and sea view rooms, rooms with large terraces overlooking the ocean and executive suites with two king-sized beds. All are outfitted with every standard mod con. The bathrooms are rather small, but we're assured plans are afoot to address this issue.
From aqua aerobics to beach volleyball, yoga, kite-surfing, sailing and SCUBA diving, there's a dizzying array of activities – all day, every day. The Adventure Club organises fun and games for the kids, and the animation team ensures there's plenty for adults to do as well. Nightly entertainment takes many forms: skits and musical montages, dance performances and comedy, or you can simply stroll on the beach. VBN has something for almost every palate.
A steamy, tropical metropolis with a mesmerising history and an intoxicating blend of cultures.
